6 tips to take care of your printed T-shirts

By Mai Huong Vu on Feb 09, 2022

We all want our custom-printed t-shirts to keep their color and vibrancy for as long as possible. In this piece, we'll go over some simple suggestions for keeping your printed t-shirts looking bright and colorful for longer and getting the most out of your purchase.

1. Before placing your garments in the washing machine, turn them inside out.

This trick will provide more “protection” and less direct contact of the shirt prints to other garments and t-shirts. This simple step is easy and effective, it will ensure that printed t-shirts are more durable. Besides t-shirts, this can be used on jeans as well, to prevent its colour from fading, retaining the original fresh colour tone.

2. Wash your t-shirts with cold water

When it comes to washing t-shirts, cold water is always much better than hot or warm water. There is really no need to wash your t-shirts in hot water, cold water will do the job in most cases.

3. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners

The regular detergent will suffice. It is sufficient to clean and refresh your t-shirts. The use of bleach or powerful detergents such as softeners may damage heat transfer printing on a garment, such as vinyl prints. Choose a gentler detergent to care for your printed t-shirts.

4. Do not iron T-shirt pants

T-shirt prints should never be ironed directly. If you really must iron, lower the iron's temperature settings, flip the t-shirt inside out, and iron. Heat is usually terrible for t-shirt prints, and pressing them for too long will damage them and cause them to peel.

5. Avoid dryers at all cost

Dryers are fantastic because they save us time, but they are especially bad for t-shirts and their prints. Heat is usually bad for prints, as I've said throughout this piece! They shrink clothing and t-shirts (particularly cotton t-shirts), and they harm t-shirt prints by cracking or peeling them. The best method for drying garments is to hang them up to dry.

6. Wash similar clothes together

White clothes, for example, should be washed separately from other colors and should not be mixed. Printed t-shirts should not be washed with jeans or other fabrics that are more abrasive. When rubbing designs with softer fabric or prints during washing, harsher textiles like denim may cause them to peel.
